Located within the Town of Oyster Bay, Hicksville is a hamlet with a population of nearly 42,000, and a total area of 6.8 square miles of land. It is named after Valentine Hicks, who became the president of the Long Island Rail Road, buying the land in the village in 1834 and then turning it into a LIRR station stop in 1837.
